Fallston is like Abingdon in that no one really knows where it is. Maybe it is this desperate search for identity that has gotten the Fallston citizens an image problem.

According to all the road signs, Fallston is located at the intersection of Harford and Mountain roads. Mountain Road being Route 152. (Although Mountain Road runs into Fallston Road if you go far enough north and west.) But when you get there, all you see is the nexus of Mountain and Harford roads. Clearly, something is missing.
Others will tell you that Fallston runs along that crowded business-centric portion of U.S. 1 from Benson to Route 152. Or that it is the 21047 Zip Code, which runs nearly ten miles from U.S. 1 northwest to Jarrettsville Pike and Route 23. Or that it is where the 410-699 and -877 telephone exchanges are, or the newer 443-261, -299, -417, -504, -601, -631, -953, and -954 exchanges are. Wherever.
Well, maybe now you understand why Fallston is not always where it seems, and sometimes seems to be where it is not. And why the citizens of Fallson, whoever they are, often seek identity anyplace they can find it.

But we don't mean to be too hard on them. After all, I attend a church in Fallston. And we know many good Fallston folks. They work hard for their schools and for the community. They want it to be a good place to live. And it is tough to live in the shadow of Bel Air. It almost takes a Ripken Stadium or a Bulle Rock to get noticed these days.
And, hey, they just want to be somebody too.
